I wonder what the show is like from his perspective. If he's there every day, presumably he sees a side (back, if I'm not mistaken) of Ann Curry that the home viewer does not. Does he even ever get to see himself on TV?
I think it's really weird in general the way the audience watches this show from outside. Because the anchors are all so warm and bubbly and animated, and everyone outside watching is just so...still...and cold...the tension created by the two dynamics is really creepy.

I've totally seen that guy too! They actually mentioned him on the show recently, I think b/c it was his b-day.
I've developed such a love-hate relationship with that show since I've been working from home. It's one of my morning rituals as well.
